Self Love is Important | How to Start Loving Yourself Before Loving Anyone Else

Do you love yourself first before losing someone you love or are you in a relationship? Are you constantly seeking approval from others when all you need to feel good is for someone to love and care for you? Or do you spend your time worrying about how people might view or react to you, while the person you love spends their time elsewhere? Have you ever noticed that when someone loves deeply, they also tend to be very picky?

We usually cannot understand why people would choose the person they are with over us. We want them to choose us! Well, guess what? You already do. You are reading this because someone loves and cares for you just as much as they do for themselves. They may not realize it yet, but the one person who makes them happy is first and foremost on their list of priorities.

Requirement of self-love

Even though some of us are more sensitive than average, we have all experienced heartache because of careless words or acts. When we let people down or make mistakes, the last thing we want is for others to think less of us.

So now that I know how much someone loves me back, it is time to work on loving myself first so that when I get hurt, I would not let it define me anymore.

Why is Self-Love Important?

As I mentioned above, self-love is important for several reasons. The main one is that it will help you feel good about yourself. When we love ourselves, we start to feel good about ourselves. We start to appreciate our looks, our bodies, our strengths, our skills, and our accomplishments.

We start to realize that we are worthy of everything good that comes our way. We start to believe that we are beautiful the way we are. And this feeling of self-worth and beauty can transfer over to other areas of our lives, including our work and our finances.

Importance of self love

When we love ourselves, we start to see the world a bit differently too. We no longer just see ourselves as "we", but rather as "the best version of ourselves". We see our strengths, our weaknesses, and our opportunities to grow. We start to realize that we don't need to be perfect, we just need to be happy with how we are!

Self-loathing is one of the most common illnesses one can experience. It's the result of two things: shame and inadequacy. Shame is the feeling that you're not good enough or smart enough for the things you want.

It can be the result of low self-esteem, critical thoughts, and other internalized negative messages you've been receiving. Inadequacy is a result of feeling like you don't deserve the things that you want or want for yourself.

It could be the result of low self-esteem, feeling like you're not good enough for the things you want, and other internalized negative messages you've been receiving.

How to Start Loving Yourself - A New You Starts Here!

We've all been afraid to start. But, the good news is that it doesn't have to be hard or take long for us to start feeling better about ourselves. We can all start today. It doesn't matter if you've been in this self-loathing phase or you've just recently started to realize that you need to love yourself, there are steps that you can take.

The first step to self-love is acknowledging that you have it. You may have it in you, but you have to wake up and smell the coffee every day. You have to slap yourself in the face and say "Wake up, sleepyhead! You have a set of gorgeous arms and legs, and they belong to you!"

The second step is to make a decision. You have to decide to love, appreciate, and feed yourself. When you love and appreciate yourself, you are doing two things:
  1. You are setting an example for others.

  2. You are showing yourself that you exist!

Let's get started on the journey of self-love by doing one of the following:

  • Lifting lighter loads for a few days.

  • Taking a break from social media for a few days.

  • Journaling for a few days.

  • Participating in a self-care activity for a few days.

After each day, document what you did, who you were with, and why you did it. This will help you stay committed to your goals, and keep track of your progress. Remember: consistency is key!

Self-Love Tips to Help You Start Loving Yourself can help you start loving yourself today. These tips will give you the push you need to start loving yourself.

They will help you open your eyes to your flaws and appreciate your strengths more than you previously did.

As easy as it is to fall into the trap of self-loathing, it's also easy to stay stuck in it. To prevent this, you have to be incredibly aware of the way that you feel inside.

Pay attention to your body language. Pay attention to the way that you're feeling. Ask yourself "How do I feel right now compared to how I want to feel?" If you're not at least 90% there, take a step back and try again harder. Another tip is to set small goals for yourself.

It might sound scary, but the best way to start loving yourself is to be small! Create a list of goals for this new you, and see if you can reach at least half of them.

Conclusion

Self-love is the ability to love yourself and get along with yourself. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, the truth is that you can't love yourself and then expect others to love you back. It's not the same thing! This can be a scary idea to get your mind around, but it's not impossible. All you have to do is practice!

To truly love yourself, you have to love both your inside and you're out. You have to love your strengths, your weaknesses, and your lovely tangle of emotions. You have to love your body, your mind, and your heart. You have to care for yourself the way you would care for your best friend. You have to make space in your life for your needs, and you have to permit yourself to feel the way you need to feel.
