In our last post, we explored keeping our motivation long-lasting. We also talked briefly about complementary qualities such as consistency and resilience. These qualities are often the secret ingredients that separate those who reach their goals from those who fall short. Today, let's dive deeper into these concepts and explore how cultivating them can help us build a mindset that leads to the path of success.
Consistency And Resilience:
The Literal meaning of consistency and resilience as per Google dictionary is "the quality of always having the same standard, opinions, behavior, etc.", And the ability to be happy, successful, etc. again something difficult or bad has happened." respectively.
These dictionary-based definitions are meaningful but everybody has to rewrite them according to their life experiences. Here are a few cases that come to mind when we peek into the path of keeping ourselves motivated.
Firstly take the case of Michelangelo, a famous Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet of the High Renaissance era. He is known for his most famous sculptor "Pietà" which he formed at the age of 24 years.
People claimed that he was a gifted genius, but Michelangelo would back to differ. He had worked so hard from a very early age in his life. He learned to work with a hammer and chisel from age six to ten years. From then, he kept on learning about different sculptures till the age of seventeen.
Secondly, let's consider "The Detroit Motor" story, this was a very successful American automobile manufacturing company. But during the course of time, this entrepreneur lost it's foot in the market leading to its parish.
Let's summarise both short stories. The first one shows how people see the success rather than the efforts and hard work behind that success. same had to be considered for motivation. you had to be consistent and keep on going on the path, to achieve your goal. For the second story, we had to understand, that once you feel motivated and start achieving targets, then also you need the consistency and resilience to keep yourself as per the market standards, or in other words, adjust your motivation as per the requirement of the time.
Here are the below pointers for maintaining consistency and a resilience mindset.
Consistent Effort in the Face of Failure: Resilience helps to maintain consistency by keeping you on track even when faced with obstacles. While setbacks can derail progress, resilient individuals tend to view these as temporary challenges and continue their efforts.
Feedback Loops: Consistent action provides the opportunity for continuous learning and feedback, which in turn builds resilience. Regular efforts help you refine strategies and improve over time, making it easier to bounce back after setbacks
Commitment to the Process: Motivation alone is often insufficient. Willpower and self-discipline help you stay on track during difficult or monotonous phases. These traits help to maintain momentum even when progress seems slow.
Cultivating these traits through habits, mental strategies, and social support can help you build a mindset that’s not only motivated but also capable of achieving great things in the face of adversity.
